name = Blob
difficulty = Very Hard
access = Whatever you can bust into.
quote = "CONFIRMED LEVEL 5 BIOHAZARD: ALL PERSONNEL MUST CONTAIN THE OUTBREAK".
}}
The blob is a fast-growing dangerous organism whose main goal is to take over the station. You can become a blob carrier both at the beginning of the round and in the middle if you pick the ghost role. The carrier of the blob is either a crewmate, or a mouse.

Core
The most important blob tile is the Core. By destroying the Core, the blob will be defeated, and all its other tiles will die, turning a shade of bone white. You can always see the core health on the right side of the screen as a percentage. Watch your Core and don't let it be destroyed!

There are 2 actions you can take with the Core: "Transfer" and "Split".
* When a core is transferred, the selected node and kernel are swapped. This is useful in case the kernel location is not very secure.
* When the core is split, the selected node becomes a new and independent Core. Although this action requires a lot of points, in the long run, a new core can help you capture the station.

Tile Types
Normal tiles are extremely vulnerable to burns or even mechanical damage until they are upgraded. They can also be upgraded to strong versions, and then reflective versions, or turned into special blob tiles. You cannot upgrade strong/reflective tiles to special tiles!

Special tiles
scope="col" class="unsortable" style='width:150pt; background-color:#5F9EA0;'|Tile Types
scope="col" class="unsortable" background-color:#5F9EA0;background-color:#5F9EA0;'|Description
colspan="7" style="text-align: center; font-weight: bold; background-color:#71d703;" |
Resource Tiles
Constantly producing points for all the actions the blob performs. These are your second most important tiles, before the core.
Factory Tiles
Creates Blob Pods and Blobbernauts to help fight against the station.
Node Tiles
Allows you to place other blob tiles around it within a certain radius. They will also heal Zombies and Blobbernauts when close.
colspan="7" style="text-align: center; font-weight: bold; background-color:#71d703;" |

Minions
Blob factories can produce Blob Spores and Blobbernauts, these are your bread and butter. Blob Spores have the ability to turn dead humanoids into zombie blobs, which will force them to fight on your side against the rest of the crew. They will also release a cloud of smoke on death, the effect depending on your chemical.
* Blobbernauts deal a lot of damage, and are tanky, which will come in handy for attacking. They will also carry over any effects the Blob has, such as exploding whatever they punch!

Management
* To place a blob tile, click on an empty space. If a tile is occupied, or someone or something is standing on it, clicking on it will attack and deal damage.
* Note that you cannot place regular blob tiles far from blob nodes. Place blob nodes to be able to grow further.
* By pressing Alt+LMB, you can upgrade normal tiles to strong tiles and strong tiles to reflective.

Chemicals
No, not the chemistry kind of chemicals, instead, you can change what your tiles, and blob drops do! There are several types of Chemicals-
scope="col" class="unsortable" style='width:150pt; background-color:#5F9EA0;'|Chemical Types
scope="col" class="unsortable" background-color:#5F9EA0;background-color:#5F9EA0;'|Description
colspan="7" style="text-align: center; font-weight: bold; background-color:#71d703;" |
Reactive Spines
Your default chemical. You'll deal 25 brute damage, and your Blob Drops will release a puff of smoke when killed.
Blazing Oil
You deal 15 burn damage and light targets on fire. Your blob drops will release a cloud of smoke that sets anyone in it on fire.
Regenerative Material
You deal 6 brute damage, and 15 toxin damage. Your core will also regenerate 10 times faster than it normally would, along with generating an extra resource. Your blob drops will also release a cloud of toxic smoke on death.
Explosive Lattice
You deal 5 burn damage, BUT: you explode your target, dealing 10 brute damage. You also well, explode things in general. Your drops will also explode on death. You will, however, take even more burn damage and electrical damage.
Electromagnetic Web
You will deal 20 burn damage and have a 20% chance to cause a EMP when attacking. Your tiles will also cause a EMP pulse when destroyed, you will however, take more brute and electrical damage. You're effectively an IPC's worst nightmare.
colspan="7" style="text-align: center; font-weight: bold; background-color:#71d703;" |

Special Abilities
In the action bar, you can use special abilities that will allow you to perform important actions, such as placing special cells, or special actions with the core and chemicals.

* Changing chemicals allows you to change your chemical. Each has its own characteristics suitable for different situations.
* Demote Blob gives you the option to downgrade any blob cell back to normal for free. It is useful in order to correct the wrong placement or placing a special tile.

Course of the Round
As the blob grows, the station will pass through four unique stages:

* Silent - The blob is still undetected, and you can (probably) grow and prepare while the crew still has no idea about your existence.
* Biohazard Detection - As soon as the blob grows a little, the station is automatically set to red, and complete isolation of the station is declared. The evacuation shuttle cannot be called at this point. If it was called, it will automatically be recalled.
* Delta Alert - If the blob captures a significant part of the station, Delta Alert is triggered. The main goal of the station now is to detonate the nuke, and the nuke codes will be sent to a fax machine. Defeating a blob at this point is most likely impossible.
* Critical Mass - If the blob captures a majority of the station, it reaches critical mass, causing the round to end with the blob winning.

Starting from the second stage, the captain has a priority goal in the form of protecting the nuclear authentication disk. If you lose it, the blob cannot be destroyed in Delta, which gives a near guaranteed victory to the blob! If you are the captain, do NOT charge headfirst into the blob!

Someone just turned this game into an RTS, what do?
"Man, I love going to wor- wait, what do you mean there's a level 5 biohazard? AND WHY DO I HEAR BOSS MUSIC?!" is probably your first thought the first time you encounter a blob. Well, get ready to kick ass and chew bubblegum. But before you're so eager to go and either get turned into a blob zombie, or be in the frontline and be honored a hero, ask yourself the following questions;

* "Do I have the nuclear disk?" If your answer is yes, great, don't go into the blob and hug the nuke like it's your best friend.

* "Do I have a ranged weapon?" If your answer is no, go grab one, most preferably a Laser Rifle, and then ask yourself these questions again. Otherwise, you'll be a nice zombie.

* "Is the blob core exposed to space?" If your answer yes, go out into space and shoot as the Blob cries in the lack of things it can do against- wait, what do you mean the Blob moved its core?

Now I'm part of the RTS game!
Congrats, you died miserably and turned into a zombie. This isn’t your usual normal zombie, that’d be LAME! Instead, you can actually use your hands and be useful for once. And unlike a Blobbernaut, you can actually go outside of your blob's boundaries. Unfortunately, you cannot use guns, but melee weapons are free game. There are some responsibilities to being a zombie, for example;

* Lynching whoever is trying to go near the nuke, unless it's already activated. If it is, there is nothing you can do.

* Dragging the person you just lynched with your zombie friends into the blob, for a fresh new friend!

* Using the tools you found, or had, to build up some defenses. Or at least until the blob rampages through them.

Just remember blob drops take your head slot, and that once you fall into a critical condition, a crewmember can take the drop off, killing it instantly.

Methods of Control
As said before, the Blob is very weak to burn damage. As such, the following items are very good for fighting against it:

* Incendiary Ammo

* Laser Weaponry

* Welders

You will be expected to coordinate the station as a whole, and w̶h̶e̶n if it falls to chaos, you can be expected to take the blame for it.

So... I'm the boss. Now what?
Really? You've made it to the highest priority role in Space Station 14 without knowing what to do? It's great to see nepotism still alive and well. This is your guide to make sure the crew doesn't riot against you.

As you've become experienced with other roles, you might find yourself a bit lost on what exactly it is you do as the Captain. If you find yourself in a situation too chaotic for you to manage, you can always go to Cryosleep and leave the round, or ask from help from the command heads that you manage. Your voice and authority is your greatest asset as Captain, despite your fancy gear.

Gearing Up.
Once you arrive on station, you're going to want to beeline for the bridge, and more specifically, your locker. You can gather all your gear as outlined below, with your Antique Laser Pistol typically spawning in a glass box within your office, rather than your locker.
Nuclear Pinpointer || This little red disk is most useful when not in your hands, hand it to a trusted member of Command like the Head of Security or Head of Personnel.
Captain's Spare ID || In case any thieving member of the lower class gets their grubby mitts on your original.
Captain's Sabre|| A deadly sharp sword, perfect for decapitating any threats to your rule.
Nuclear Authentication Disk || This is the most important item on the station. The authentication codes to the station's on-board nuke. In other words... "SECURE DAT FUKKEN DISK!"
Custom Door Remote || A gadget which can open and bolt doors remotely. This advanced variant does not have built-in access, instead inheriting the ID access of the user.
Antique Laser Pistol || A relic from a more civilized age, this gun trades low damage for recharging ammo.
How to manage Chaos (and the Station as a whole).
It's simple, just don't let it happen in the first place. Most of the time, the station's chaos starts small. A forge here, a bit of contraband there. You, as the Captain, have to act as the counterbalance of the round and shut all that down. Ensure Security is acting within the boundaries of Space Law, ensure that Science is researching, and that Medical isn't letting people die in their halls. If you do your job right, the chaos that inevitably appears will be cut to a minimum thanks to the beauty of a functioning station.
Robust Guide
Gearing up
Once you spawn in, head directly to the detectives office which will be nearby security or randomly scattered around the station check a station map to find your office. Open up your locker which will look like a wardrobe grab your Bloodtrak, Forensic Scanner, and Forensic pads. You can head to security for any additional equipment you might need and the Warden can supply you with more 45. magnum.
+
Item !! Description
Forensic Scanner|| When scanning a item the forensic scanner will pop up a list which includes the fingerprints and DNA's of everyone that interacted with the scanned object, as well as a separate list of all the glove fibers found on the object. You can use the criminal records computer and match the DNA with the criminal.
Forensic Pad|| Pads are single use items that can be used on either an ungloved suspect, or on a set of gloves. If used on a suspect they provide that suspects unique fingerprint code, which can be used to match with evidence found by the forensics scanner at a crime scene. If used on gloves the forensic pad will instead show the fibers of that specific glove.
BloodTrak|| A handheld tracking device, capable of tracking someone from their DNA. Use it on a puddle of blood to begin tracking a target for a short amount of time. This can be extremely useful if the crime just happened.
Logprobe|| A program for getting access logs from devices. pre-installed in a detective PDA or installed with a logprobe cartridge located in the detectives locker. Let's you see anyone that accessed the door and when.

How do I get evidence?
Firstly, many things cause DNA residue to be left behind. For example scanning a body will reveal the DNA of anyone who hugged or dragged them. An object used to strike someone will have the victim's DNA, and any object a person picks up will have their DNA unless they wore gloves otherwise it will leave fibers. However, all DNA can be scrubbed off using soap.

Second way to get evidence is by using your logprobe located in your PDA. If you know where the criminal was recently at you can try scanning all the doors around or leading to that area to see who went by there most recently.

Forensics are not the only way to gain information on a case. Be sure to (try to) interview bystanders to see if they saw anything, and to check your radio logs. You never know when a specific tidbit helps you catch your guy. You can keep notes in your PDA or on paper when you start to get overwhelmed.

Robust Guide
Many cadets before you have asked these questions ("How do I even properly be a Security Officer?" "What am I doing?" "Can I magdump the assistant?") Have you said any of these? Then this is a short guide for you my little maints warrior soon you won't even remember being a cadet.

Security Cadet might be your first real job on the station after spending a few rounds as a assistant, or maybe you made the enormous mistake of trying this out as your first role. To be clear, this is not a role for absolute beginners. If you are unprepared you can always go to cryosleep or ask the Head of Personnel for a different job.

Gearing up
Once you arrive on station go to the Security locker room open up one of the lockers and grab the supplies you need then head to the secvend for extra gear. If you need anything from the armory ask the warden do not steal or try breaking into the armory unless It's a life threatening emergency like Nuclear Operatives. You can always ask your fellow officers or the Warden if you need help choosing what gear to pick up.

How to properly arrest
For a proper arrest they need to break the law (obviously) All crimes are listed in Space Law, do not worry you don't have to sentence, the warden typically does that. Firstly open up your sec belt by hovering over it and pressing E once you've done that take out the baton and press Z with it inhand go up to the criminal hover over them and use LMB once and then again to fully stun. Once they're crawling on the ground and screaming "shitsec" go into your sec belt and grab cuffs use RMB to wideswing the cuffs to put them on the criminal. Finally Alt + click on them then drag them back to security for the warden to sentence them.

Sometimes antagonists win
Sometimes, there's truly nothing you can do. The Security Officers you have were either bad at listening, bad at communicating, bad at combat, or Security was just overwhelmed and now everyone is dead in the halls. If a antagonist has ascended or multiple traitors are running around and most of Security is dead it's okay to put yourself first and survive, but you still have the duties of a officer and NT would probably punish you for not throwing yourself at them in vain.

Tips
* Your fellow officers and Command are generally more trustworthy sources of information

* Find a more experienced officer to pair up with, and never be afraid to ask for help or a second opinion

* Listen to your radio and the people around you

* Police brutality is funny, but usually the last resort

* Communication is key, and there is always room for improvement

* ALWAYS listen to the Head of Security and your Warden, until you are certain that they've gone mad and can't be trusted as a figure of authority

Insurgents are minor team antagonists that spawn every single round, they spawn in groups of 1 - 3 in their shuttle with the objective of surviving and escaping on the evacuation shuttle. Insurgents are allowed to do general menace activities, but still have to follow escalation and are always valid to crew.

So, what do I do?
Firstly turn off your IFF on the IFF console, It's the biggest giveaway. Start with FTLing to the station then trying to salvage wrecks for useful supplies (meds, weapons, EVA suits, ect.) You can't stay in your ship forever, you have limited power so either infiltrate the station or salvage for plasma.

Once you arrive on the station eventually, just know that any simple mobs will target insurgents even mice and other rodents so be weary.
Traumastation offers many unique jobs to the player, while also keeping low time requirements. Essentially, that means you do not have to play tons of hours to unlock them, unlike other servers.

The tables were taken and modified from Paradise Station wiki, and therefore use their "Initiative" system which is explained below:

Initiative Required ranks how much initiative you need to take to have a fun round. A low initiative role will have things happen to them which will keep them busy. A high ranking means you need to start projects and take initiative to have a good round. The rank is based on an average round. Some rounds will be hectic, even for high initiative roles.

Despite the hours required to unlock each job, it is expected by the player to hold a certain roleplay standard depending on the importance of said role.

Job Description
Security Cadets are often officers in training and will learn the basics such as Space Law, arresting, shooting, u̶s̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶e̶x̶c̶e̶s̶s̶i̶v̶e̶ ̶f̶o̶r̶c̶e, ect. You will mostly assist your fellow officers in arresting Insurgents and other petty criminals.

All cadets usually meet the same fate where they get slipped, cuffed, dragged into maintance, and butchered by real Antagonists don't let this discourage you!

Security Department
A typical Security Department will have gen-pop (General Population) where criminals of all kinds will be kept, The Wardens office, Armory with all the guns, and finally the Security locker room where you'll gear up.

Start with FTLing to the station then trying to salvage wrecks for useful supplies likes meds, weapons, EVA suits, ect. You can't stay in your ship forever, you have limited power so either infiltrate the station or salvage for plasma. Once you arrive on the station eventually, just know that any simple mobs will target insurgents even mice and other rodents so be weary.

Your ship will spawn with one multitool, insulative gloves, maintenance locker, maintenance altar, and a EVA suit.
Remember you're a team antagonist so cooperation is needed if you want to survive!
Insurgents are allowed to do general menace activities, but still have to follow escalation and are always valid to crew.

So, what do I do?
Firstly turn off your IFF on the IFF console, It's the biggest giveaway.

Utility Belt|| Full utility belt minus the multitool.
Headset|| Basic headset only has common use :c to talk to the crew.
Gas Mask|| Standard gas mask let's you breathe with oxygen tanks.
